Girl Scouts Region 5 at 1310 West Main St, Lexington, KY 40508 US - Home
Welcome to Region 5 of the NCCGSCF
The National Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire is member of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. The NCCGSCF promotes collaboration with Girl Scouts USA and Camp Fire USA to help young people explore and become more involved with their Catholic faith as part of the spiritual growth encouraged by these youth organizations.
The NCCGSCF administers the Catholic Youth Recognition Program, which provides age-appropriate activities that support and complement catechetical efforts of parents, parishes and schools.
As expressed on the NFCYM website:
Today, when youth ministers and Girl Scout or Camp Fire leaders get together, they share resources and learn from one another. This positive, cooperative relationship enables these adults to effectively serve Catholic young people. Partnerships include work on service projects, retreats, program activities, and camping to name a few.

NFCYM and GSUSA: Concern and Conversation
Several issues have arisen in the past two years that have caused some leaders and organizations to question the relationship between GSUSA and the Catholic Church and GSUSA and National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, through the National Catholic Committee on Girls Scouts and Camp Fire.
At the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, officials of the Girl Scouts of the USA hosted a breakfast for a number of bishops and diocesan youth directors from around the US in order to discuss some of these issues. This document lists answers to some frequently asked questions about the GSUSA program and also outlines some of the action steps currently underway to provide a framework for a cooperative relationship between our Catholic dioceses, host parishes and local Girl Scouts Councils.
